Product Review!

Hello beautiful people,

Today's blog post will consist of my very first product review. Exciting stuff right? Haha maybe just for me.

I recently got my hands on Buxom's Show Some Skin Weightless foundation that retails for $34.00
and I decided to blog about it because I feel not too many people even know about this foundation, I mean I never did, not until my older sister got it for me.

I'm currently in love with it and I feel it's the perfect foundation for the summer.

A Little About the Product:
This foundation is a light-to-medium coverage that contains SPF 30 providing protection against harmful UV rays. The formula contains water which is beneficial because it makes the product last longer on your face and gives a soft finish to your skin. The website claims this foundation will give 8 hours of coverage and has been clinically proven to increase hydration and brightness in the face. The product comes in a squeeze tube versus a pump application. This product also comes in 10 different shades:
Fair Game: neutral beige for light skin tones
Dim the Light: warm yellow for light skin tones
In the Buff: cool pink for light skin tones
You're a Natural: warm yellow for medium skin tones
Meet me Latte: neutral beige for medium skin tones
Sweet as Honey: cool pink for medium skin tones
Tan-Talize Me: warm yellow for tan skin tones
Almond The Nude: neutral beige for tan skin tones
Caramel Kisses: warm yellow for dark skin tones
In The Dark: rich neutral for dark skin tones

* I got the color shade samples from the Sephora website and just used them for you to visualize what the color would actually come out to be instead to just stating the shade's name*

My Thoughts on the Product:
Well to start off, I really love the product's squeezable tube versus any other pump application. I had control with how much product I wanted to get out. The shade I got is Meet Me Latte. I prepped my face before applying the product on  (moisturize and prime). I applied the product with a flat kabuki brush and I found this is best method to apply this foundation versus using my all-time-favorite, the beauty blender. Using the beauty blender on this type of foundation is a no go, the sponge will absorb most of the product up. I also recommend using your fingers to apply the foundation.

Now when I put the foundation on I did notice some of my more noticeable blemishes had not been covered and this makes sense since this foundation is light-to-medium coverage. I applied one layer of the foundation and I definitely got a light coverage. This foundation kind of works as a BB cream, it feels just like it. I added another layer and I got the medium coverage which was perfect. I added some concealer to my problem areas and set everything.

I really love how this foundation feels on my skin. When I put it on it felt like I was putting water on my face. It is definitely moisturizing and really light. I mean the product is called "Show Some Skin" and I think this is perfect for the days when you don't wan to wear a full face of makeup. Especially during the summer when applying a thick full coverage foundation doesn't seem like the most ideal thing to do. This foundation is great when you need to go to the grocery store, make quick errands, mostly everyday use. If you are looking for a full converge foundation this is not the one for you.

Now the product claims it will last up to 8 hours on your face and I'm not exactly sure that is true. When it came to the 6th hour of having this foundation on I noticed it was smearing a little (mostly on my chin and nose). This foundation also claims it'll leave your face more hydrated and speaking as an oily-combination-skin type this foundation didn't leave me looking greasy or shiny. I did have to use my blotting sheets once but that honestly wasn't a problem, I  have to do that with most of my foundations anyways.

PROS AND CONS:
Pros:
  • lightweight
  • moisturizing
  • fragrance free
  • squeezable tube
  • gives a dewy finish
  • broad-spectrum sun protection
  • blends easily
Cons:
  • can emphasize fine lines and wrinkles over time
  • not versatile for all skin types
  • not buildable

Last words:
Overall I really love this product and I think it's the perfect light-to-medium coverage foundation I have ever gotten my hands on. PERFECT for the summer. If you do end up trying this foundation I recommend getting matched.

If you're interested in purchasing this baby you can buy it at the:

Summer Outfit & Summer Makeup Look!

Hello beautiful babes,
I finally made post on the "fashion" side of my blog, my Summer Outfit/Summer Makeup Look. Knowing me I always have to incorporate some type of makeup aspect to my posts. I've been meaning to to do a fashion post but didn't know how to come about it. Every girl has a different type of style and preferences in clothing. I don't even know what to call my style. I'm all over the place to be honest. I love comfort but I also like dressing up. This look is definitely more on the dress up side but still super comfortable, it's an outfit I'd wear to go to the Pier, the beach, the park or a theme park. This look is very versatile as well as the makeup look so I hope you girls enjoy and get something out of it no matter what type of style you are!

The Summer Outfit

The Crop Top: I purchased this floral crop top at Macy's a couple weeks ago. The original price says $34 but I'm pretty sure I got some type of discount. Summer is the only time of the year I like to experiment with colors. I'm a "black" outfit type of girl so when summer comes around I know I have to add some life back into my closet. Floral prints have been very trendy over the past years. Make sure you have a couple floral prints in your closet this season.
The High Waisted Shorts: I admit it, I'm a high waited shorts/jeans addict. Lately this is the only type of style I've been wearing. I make sure to wear high waisted anything whenever I wear crop tops. I don't like to show too much skin. I got these at T.J. Maxx for $16.99
The Sun Hat: These big Sun hats for women have definitely become a trend during the summer of 2014. I've been seeing them a lot more often. They're perfect for music festivals or just when you need to protect your face from the sun's UV rays. I got mine at Target for around $10.

The Sandals: It's always essential to stock up on many different kinds and styles of sandals. I wear sandals throughout the whole year (I'm not kidding). I can walk miles in them, I blame my flat foot. These sandals are nude with an accent of gold. Make sure to buy some nudes ones if those are the only ones you buy (they go with everything).

The Earrings: I paired these gold Egyptian looking hoop earrings with the outfit. Since the sandals have gold accents I wanted the earrings to be gold as well.
The Bracelet: I didn't want anything heavy for my bracelet. Since my earrings are bold, I wanted to keep the rest simple. It's just a thin rusted gold bracelet.
The Rings: This is just pure preference for me. I like silver rings over gold. I chose two knuckle rings: (left) one with a bow and (right) one with a black heart.

The Summer Makeup

Overall Makeup tips for Summer: Try not to use foundation, those tend to melt off because of the hot sun. Try to go easy on makeup over all, you're going to be sweating, going inside of the water, and whatnot.

On Top and Under your face.
Primer: ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS apply a primer.  No matter what season it is. That's the first thing you should apply when you start doing your makeup. Makeup in general will last longer if you apply a primer. You need makeup to last longer because the heat will work against that notion. The one I use during my daily summer days are (RIGHT) Maybelline's Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser that retails for $7.
Evian Mineral Water Spray: (LEFT) I talked about this product in my ALL ABOUT SKIN BLOG POST. It's a water spray that you apply after you put on makeup that restores moisture into your skin. Apply this throughout the day. This product is essential for me during the summer. Retails for $12

"Coverage"
B.B. Cream: (RIGHT) This is Boscia's B.B. Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 27 PA++. I lean towards B.B and C.C. Creams during the summer season. It's light weight on my face and gives me the coverage I would get with a foundation. This also protects me from the sun's powerful and harmful rays. Retails for $38 in Sephora.
Luminizer: (LEFT) This is the Buxom Divine Goddess Luminzer in Venus that retails for $28 in Sephora. I love to wear luminizer's in the summer because it gives my complexion an incandescent glow and sheer lightweight creaminess. You achieve that glow and sun kissed appearance for the summer. Apply it alone, under, or over your foundation.

Eyeliner: Make sure to purchase a waterproof eyeliner if you're going to use one. You can totally skip this makeup step in the summer. But knowing me I always have to rock a dramatic wing eyeliner. This one is my current favorite, Maybelline's Eye Studio Master Precise Ink Pen Eyeliner in Black that retails for $8 at any drugstore.

Mascara: Mascara is a must in any type of makeup look. Make sure you purchase a waterproof one for the summer. My favorite waterproof mascara that I know won't come off in the pool or beach is L'Oreal Paris Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara is Blackest Black that retails around $7-8 at any drugstore.

Eyeshadow: In general, not just summer, I've always been a neutral eyeshadow type of girl. I leave the experiment with colors to the true makeup artist, my sister. But for summer especially I try to stick to the gold, brown, and pink shades for eye shadows. I think these are just great to keep that gold and bronzed look going. I know some girls actually like to prefer experimenting with brighter eye shadows for the summer, and by all means do yaaa thang girl! But for this look, if you remember the outfit I chose, the shirt is already colorful. So to keep this completed look balanced, go for a more neutral palette. The one I chose was KAT VON D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette that retails at Sephora for $36. ***This palette also comes with KAT VON D black eyeliner (sorry I took it out and didn't include in the picture)

Highlighter: I never use to wear a highlighter under my eyes, about a month ago I started to and let me tell you, one of the best things I have done yet. Highlighting the high points of your face (nose, upper cheeks, chin, and forehead) brightens your overall face complexion. The one I chose for this look was MAC Prep+Prime Highlighter. You can use this over makeup for highlights and under makeup to brighten and prime. This retails for $25 at any MAC store or their website MAC COSMETICS

Powdered Highlighter: Whenever I use a liquid highlighter I make sure to set it with a powdered highlighter. TIP: always set liquid foundations, highlighters, blushes, and bronzers with a powder. I use the shade on the (RIGHT) "The Shinning Moment" from bareMinerals READY Luminizer to set the MAC's Prep+Prime. A lot of ladies don't prefer shimmer highlighters or bronzers but for this look I think it's perfect. This highlighter retails for $25 at Sephora or $24 in their website bareMinerals

Blush: You can never do a makeup look without a blush. My skin tone prefers blushes with yellow and orange undertones. For the summer peach and coral blushes are definitely a trend. These shades go perfect with my skin tone because they have those yellow undertones. A coral blush will be great with most summer looks. This one is NYX Powder Blush- Pinched that retails for $5.
Bronzer: Bronzer IS life. This is my favorite part of any makeup look (it use to be applying mascara). For summer I lean towards bronzers that have a dark chocolate feel. But for this look I thought it was necessary to dim it down and shimmer it up. For this look I chose E.L.F.'s Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder that retails for $3.

Eyebrows: You can totally skip this step during the summer. Try not to go heavy on filling in your eyebrows in general but be really careful in the summer. You don't want your eyebrows to wipe away haha! Use powder to fill them in if necessary, this gives you the most natural eyebrow.  I chose Benefit Cosmetics-Brow Zings that retails for $32 in Sephor. I rave more about the Brow Zings in my Benefit Cosmetics Favorite Products post, check it out if you're interested in knowing more about this amazing product.

Lips: Lips color is something I tend to go all out with. Everything from this look has been settle and natural. I wanted to give a POP of color to the makeup so I went with a fuchsia lip color. I use to be totally against brighter lip colors because I was scared I wouldn't be able to pull them off but seriously, any girl can! Summer is the perfect time of the year to grab yourself a bright pink or purple lipstick and rock it. The one I chose for this look was part of the Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain- Forever Fuchsia that retails for $13 in their store and website Sephora

The look is now complete!..... BUT! you can't leave the door without ...???
Perfume: This is essential ladies. We should be smelling beautiful all the time but always be more conscious of it during the heat. Body odor is not pretty my darling so spray on! The one I chose was Victoria's Secret PINK Secret Spring Break Passionfruit Hibiscus Body Mist that retails at Victoria Secret for $18.

That's it guys I hope you enjoyed it!

Quick and Easy Beauty Tips!

Hey beautiful babes! It's Iokeline,
Decided today's blog post wouldn't mention any specific products but a post on quick and easy beauty tips! Ever had trouble applying eyeliner? Want smoother skin? How do I manage healthier hair?  Well all that good stuff and more will be mentioned here! Just keep reading :)

Makeup tips!

Mascara
1. When applying mascara NEVER ever pump the wand! This causes added air to the mascara container which will only make your mascara dry out faster!
2. This might be obvious.. but maybe not. Always use less mascara on lower lashed than on top lashes or you can skip mascara on lower lashes for the more "casual" look
3. After you've coated your lashes with mascara add just one more layer to your outer corners. This will make your eyelashes look especially full and make your eyes appear farther apart ;)
4. If you want a more fuller lash look apply eyeliner to your tightline, I promise you won't regret it.
5. Annnnnnd finally! If your mascara smells funny or is more than six months old it's time to toss that baby out!

Eyeliner
Everyone always asks me how I perfect my cat eyeliner, here's a few basic tips that has helped me get better at perfecting my eyeliner.
1. When applying mascara stand 5 to 6 inches away from your mirror and tilt your chin up so when you look down to your nose into the mirror, you can see your entire eyelid.
2. If you're eyeliner tends to smudge throughout the day, use concealer. It'll keep it in place all day.
3. If you want a more sultry and smokey look combine powder and pencil for that effect.
4. looking for the perfect wing? just outline a tiny triangle at the end of your eyelid and fill that sucker in :)
5.If that still seems TOO HARD, use clear tap stencil to make your cat line foolproof.
6. ORRRR you can just say fuck it and use a decal
7. Remember to always use cotton swabs to fix minor mistakes and for larger messes, dip it in makeup remover.
8. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE

Hair Tips!
1. Want to create a wavy look with a straightener? Flat iron your braids to make waves.
2. Use dry shampoo to add volume to your hair!
3. Massage your scalp with your shampoo for a minute to stimulate hair growth
4. When straightening you hair, pull the flat iron up towards the ceiling for extra volume at your roots
5. Try crushing two aspirins to your favorite shampoo. The salicylic acids in aspirin break down dead skin cells and product buildup. This is like a dandruff-blasting fix.
6. This is a tip I barely learned: don't try to comb your hair when wet, always wait for your hair to dry. This will prevent breakage.
7. If you want extra hold in you hair spray some hairspray on your bobby pins!

Skin Tips!
1. Ya'll going to love me after this tip! Use these ingredients "2:1 ratio of sugar and any type of oil) to create smooth as skin! Mix the sugar and oil in a small bowl. In the shower literally rub this stuff everywhere and shave in the areas you do with the mix still on your skin. It'll remove all the dead skin cells and it'll leave your skin as smooth as a baby. Just don't apply it on your lady parts ;)
2. If you ever run out of shaving cream use conditioner to shave. I actually prefer this better!
3. No brainer Use sunscreen on the daily!
4. I'm not sure if this is a skin tip... but you apply it to your skin so I'm going to put it on here. Always wanted your perfume to smell throughout your whole body? Apply your perfume behind your ears, inside your wrists, base of throat, behind the knee, and inside your elbows.

Nails Tip!
1. Need your nails to dry fast? When you paint you nails submerge them into cold water and wait a few minutes. The polish will dry when you remove your fingertips from the water.

WELL THAT'S IT GUYS!
I hope it helps, let me know if you're interested
in me posting more of these tips and tricks :)

Everything Foundations!

➡Everything Foundations⬅
Hey beautiful ðŸ’˜! Before I begin, I just want to start out and say that although I recommend these products 100% EVERYONE'S skin is different. Let me tell you a little bit about my skin. I have acne prone and oily skin. Since middle school I have always had really bad acne. I would breakout severely on my forehead and around my chin. Although I hardly break out there anymore, right now my problem area are my cheeks. Since I have oily skin I tend to apply powder foundation on top of my liquid foundation to set my makeup and make it look matt. So now that I've told you a little about my skin type, I would continue on to say that it hasn't been easy to find a "perfect" or "ideal" foundation. As you can see I have a mix of brands that I prefer for certain occasions or weather. In this blog I mention products that are drug store to high end. I also add some powder foundations because I know some of you don't wear liquid foundations. I don't mention any M.A.C. products for the same reason that I have acne prone skin and that brand tends to break me out....a lot. Anyways, enough of me chatting lets get to the review.

**ALWAYS USE A PRIMER BEFORE YOU APPLY ANY FOUNDATION ON THE FACE**

(HIGH END) FOUNDATIONS:

MAKE UP FOR EVER: "HD Invisible Cover Foundation" $42

Makeup Forever is my holy grail brand for a foundation that gives me FULL coverage. This foundation is definitely build-able but it can look "cake-y" on the face if you apply many layers although I feel you don't need to apply no more that one since this is definitely on the more medium-to-full coverage side.  The "HD Invisible" just implies that this foundation is meant to withstand harsh lighting. Meaning that if you ever wanted to wear this foundation you wouldn't have to worry about the flash on a camera making your skin look weird. This foundation is also oil-free which is great for skins that are on the more oily side. I do notice although that if I wear this foundation for more than 6 hours I do begin to feel oily and I have to either (1) use oil blotting sheets or (2) use powder to set my makeup again. I mostly wear this foundation whenever I'm going on dates w/ my boyfriend, dances, concerts, anything special that I would want my face to look perfect for. Highly recommend this ladies.

MAKE UP FOR EVER:"Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation" $36

Can you tell I like Make Up Forever? .. P.S this is the brand Kim K wears (so they say) lol. Okay this foundation is for the days that I want absolute FULL coverage. I mean I really really want my skin to look like a porcelain doll. This foundation is a shine controlling, water resistant, and oil-fee. I definitely recommend this foundation for the summer days that you can't skip out on a full coverage face. I never recommend applying heavy makeup on hot and humid days, but if it is necessary this is the product to turn to. Because this foundation is skin controlling and water resistant you don't have to worry about building up an oily face throughout the day or melting off because of the sweat. I have 2 shades of skin tone colors for this product. Definitely a must have for me.

(DRUG STORE) FOUNDATIONS:

Loreal Paris: "True Match™ Super Blendable Makeup" $10.95
HOLY GRAIL! okay okay. I have probably repurchased this foundation..maybe... 5 times already? Besides the fact that it's super cheap (compared to makeup forever) it is also the only foundation that has been able to do my face any justice. If you ever see me in person this is probably the foundation I am wearing on my face. I reach for this foundation over any of the other brands I mention just because it's my "go to" and "daily" foundation. I always try to switch up foundations but I just always end up going back to this one. This is a fersure "true match". I have 2 shade: (1) TRUE BEIGE N5 for the summer and (2) SAND BEIGE W5 for the winter since a obviously get darker in the summer and lighter in the winter. This formulation has no fragrance, oil, or pore clogging fillers. It also has vitamin A and C with wheat germ and grape fruit extract to keep your face nourished through out the day. The only bad thing I would have to say is that since it does have SPF it does sometimes create a white cast on your face in photos. Do not recommend this foundation on days you have professional pictures taken of you.

COVERGIRL: "Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation" $9.79
I purchased this foundation about a month ago because of the "hype" it had to it. Let me tell you, it stood up to its hype. This foundation claims to be an "all-in-one foundation with a long-lasting formula that fuses primer, concealer, and foundation in one easy step! The 3-in-1 formula provides a flawless look that lasts all day long". Okay I wouldn't exactly say to not wear a primer or concealer while using this foundation but the coverage and finish this foundation gives me makes me love it a lot. I have been using this foundation more than my true match lately because of the SPF it has. I still use a primer under the foundation but you can skip the concealer if you don't have any severe face blemish to cover. I notice in comparison to the true match, this foundation stays on a lot longer than the other one. Maybe this one will become my new "holy grail" who knows! And to just mention again, the only bad thing I would have to say is that since it does have SPF it does sometimes create a white cast on your face in photos. Do not recommend this foundation on days you have professional pictures taken of you.

Loreal: "Magic Nude Liquid Powder Bare Skin Perfecting Makeup" $12.95
I've been wanting to try new foundations and I got this foundation because of pure curiosity. When I read "liquid to powder" I was in complete awe. Like how does that happen? haha. I definitely recommend applying this foundation with a beauty blender (I'll insert the link for those who have never heard of one) Beauty Blender because of how liquid-y this foundation is. Also make sure to shake the bottle every time you decide to apply it because the water element to this formula rises up inside the bottle. The finish to this foundation is matt! I love it. It's not a full coverage foundation, more on the medium side. This is the type of foundation you can wear w/o applying any blush or bronzer and not feeling weird w/ just foundation on. The finish is very natural. I recommend this foundation to the ladies who have always worn powder foundation and are ready to step into the dark side (liquid foundation). This is a perfect transition because it technically is a liquid foundation but it sets on the face as a powder. Always fun to switch things up a bit. I recommend this a lot!

(HIGH END) POWDER FOUNDATIONS

MAKE UP FOR EVER: "Duo Mat Powder Foundation" $34

It's sad to say that I'm this close to running out of this powder foundation :(! I never use this product by itself. I always use it as a finish for most of my foundations that have a light or medium coverage. Applying a layer of this on top gives me the full coverage I need. This powder is light and long lasting. Again it's oil free and mattifying. Whenever I need to touch up my oily skin I reach out for this product. Definitely a must have in my makeup kit.

SMASHBOX: "HALO Hydrating Perfecting Powder" $22

I have this powder a little darker than my skin tone so I use this powder mainly for the times I apply a lighter foundation and I need to balance out my skin tone. This is the the .25 oz but there's a larger product that retails for $60. This foundation creates a radiant  healthy complexion with patented hydration technology. It is the first anti-aging powder with the science of skincare built in. It uses the formulation for pure gold, 48 minerals, 11 amino acids , and a powerful peptide to deliver anti-aging benefits. Goes again giving you wrinkles and won't accentuate lines. It never gives me a cakey finish. Definitely recommend this foundation for people who worry about anti-aging.

(Drug Store) Powder Foundations
Loreal Paris: "True Match™ Powder" $10.95
Can you tell I'm almost out of this baby?! This is the product to use with the Loreal Paris: "True Match™ Super Blendable Makeup". I love this powder, I use it more than any of my other powders. I do use this foundation by itself for the days I feel super lazy to but any type of makeup but still want to look semi presentable. I can not rave about this powder enough. If you purchase a darker color form your skin tone you can totally use this powder as contour for your cheek bones. You can also by a lighter shade than your skin tone and use it to set my highlighter. This powder is very versatile and a bang for your buck!
